Anti-Group Think

“If everyone thinks like you, you don’t need them.” — Turn the Ship Around!

I love this principle. Back in my days in the corporate world, I would tell my team that “If we all agree, it’s probably a bad idea.”

Jeff Bezos had a rule at Amazon where the most junior people would speak first and the most senior people would talk last. I think this worked better for them because they wouldn't do presentations but would do written essays where all the pros and cons would be laid out in detail.

Getting the right idea often requires dissent and disagreement. When everyone agrees, it is a sign of poor leadership. We want the good outcomes, not rooms full of sheep.
